Kitchen of czech middle-class household in the context of architecture interior in the 20th century The thesis focuses on the architectural development of kitchen amenities over the twentieth century in Bohemia. The author moves its focus away from extreme social positions (living standards of the highest class, living standards of the working class) and sets the aim on the kitchen facilities of the middle-class. The author gives an outline of the kitchen evolution regarding space and equipment; simultaneously, kitchen development is followed concerning grocery storage, preparation, and consumption of food. Kitchen practicality notwithstanding, the thesis embodies the visual aspect of kitchen facilities, furniture, and other fixtures. The work comprises of pictorial supplement.

The work is focused on the overall layout of the kitchen in a residential area in terms of safe use. It also deals with current trends in kitchens and kitchen furniture, with a focus on new materials, technology and ergonomics. The work also includes market research from firm PETR PLŠEK - INET over the last 10 years.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the present trends of kitchen furniture related to the lifestyle of our society and the technological development. The thesis deals with the history of kitchen furniture and visionary projects. It addresses ergonomics, safety and hygiene, which affect the development of furniture and consumer's health. Furthermore, the thesis deals with new materials, typological elements and colour trends. A part of the thesis is a survey of present households, which was carried out in the form of questionnaires.
